Carrying on from our Long Lunch series " A chefs lunch" is a new concept lunch curated by a feature chef. Our resident lead chef Lawrence Jones will host the series of lunches in the laneway of Miami Marketta. “A chefs lunch is an opportunity for career chefs to showcase some of their favourite dishes. Each new season brings a new collaboration between our resident chef Lawrence from The Good Food Catering Co. and another industry professional. Often some of the best meals come with a long history. “ Lawrence began in hospitality from a young age, starting his career at his family's café. This passion developed into him working in some of the most popular restaurants in Sydney and on the Gold Coast, which is where his talent for food became evident.
Working as a head chef from the age of 24 with 17 years in commercial kitchens, in 2013 it was obvious to Lawrence it was time to start his own business. This would give him creative freedom to showcase his culinary skills as well as the ability to provide and focus on his young family. Four years and many happy customers later, Lawrence and his team are passionate and strive to create the best food experiences for people. Sunday 9th of June Studio 56, Miami Marketta Meet Kurt Melross, the curator and creator behind the Gins & Tins event. Gearing up for its 2nd instalment, featuring Granddad Jack's Distillery and Black Hops Beer. What inspired you to start the Gins & Tins event?
To give the community the opportunity to experience both Gins & Tins at a reasonable price, collaborate with brands and create awareness on the quality of craft products. I wanted to give some of these brewery's and distilleries a platform to educated people on their products and show the hard work that goes into it. Im also trying to keep it Australian and support Australian manufactures. Whats your favourite thing about gin? My favourite thing about gin is probably that we can use natures garden to create such a beautiful product, especially with the Australian products, using native botanics and drawing those flavours out and bringing them to life is pretty incredible! Whats your favourite thing about beer? My favourite thing about beer would have to be the process of mixing all the ingredients together and getting the perfect balanced product, whilst still having so many flavours in it. Any ideas on who you want to get involved next? I would love to get Stone and Wood and Brookies Gin on board because they’re both Byron based and I love product. |
