10 years of good times and good food!
A couple of weeks ago Miami Marketta hit a major milestone celebrating our 10th birthday. When we began we were opening to the public only once a month as a special event, fast forward to now and we are a full blown mecca housing dozens of small businesses open a minimum of 3 days a week. As we reflect on these last 10 years of Marketta; how it has grown and evolved throughout the decade, there are a couple of familiar faces that have been here since day dot. If you’re a local there is one man you might be familiar with, the owner and operator of the legendary food stall, Little Greek Kitchen; Kosta Rotos.
Kosta is part of the furniture here at Miami Marketta, originally starting the stall with family friend Jason, just for something fun to do with their friends while they enjoyed the atmosphere and indulged in a couple of frosty beers. Since then, over the last 10 years he has turned this social occasion into a very successful business serving up Greek Street Food to thousands of happy customers.
What's on the menu?
At Kosta’s stall you will find delicious Greek street fare. Beautifully marinated meats bathed in lemon, seasoned with oregano, salt and pepper, barbecued on a hot fiery grill, lathered in fresh homemade tzatziki and hummus, topped with crispy chips, wrapped up tight in a soft and floury pita. Yes, we are talking about the globally adored, rarely pronounced correctly; Gyros, or as Kosta sells it ‘Yiros’.
This tasty treat originates from Greece and Cyprus similar to the Middle Eastern Kebab but with all those mediterranean flavours that we love! The name "gyros" comes from the Greek word "γύρος" and is translated as "turn", referring to the rotisserie that the meat is grilled on. If you get in early you can also treat yourself to a Meze Platter of cured meats and cheese, perfect to go with a cold glass of wine or a Purple Haze Margarita.
Little Greek Kitchen also does amazing catering with a huge range of Mediterranean style finger food and platters perfect for any Private or Corporate event, Birthday parties and weddings. Servicing anywhere from Brisbane to Byron Bay they have an abundance of different options that can be tailored to your preferences and dietary requirements.
