Sweeter than the cakes themselves, are the bakers serving them up. Our most treasured duo, Liz and Mick at Reid Street Kitchen spoil the locals with their magnolious confections. Their Marketta story began 9 years ago, after many years running their dessert business between the Gold Coast and Brisbane Markets, Liz and Mick set up their stall here at the Marketta and decided that this was their home to stay. Baking everything here on site, Reid Street Kitchen makes all their products from scratch with no preservatives, additives or stabilisers. We are so lucky, our very own Lord and Lady Lamington!
HERE FOR A GOOD TIME
With two kids in tow, Liz and Mick keep themselves very busy helping out around the community doing whatever they can for the school and local organisations. On top of that Liz works a few times a week at a nearby hospital and is about to graduate from her nursing degree early next year. A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down indeed!
Liz has such an amazing outlook on life, she shows up every day with a beautiful smile happy to be here, not taking things too seriously. “Take the good with the bad, enjoy the ride, have fun doing what you do,” is her mantra and we are all about it!

Reid Street Kitchen prides themselves on creating a huge array of different sweet treats, still using recipes that Liz learned when she was a little girl as well as the renowned Country Women’s Association Cookbooks, “I’ve always loved to bake, it’s what we would do as kids with my two sisters and my mum.” From classic favourites including Caramel Tarts, Meringues, Tiramisu and Cheesecake to some Reid Street specialities such as Brownies loaded with salted caramel and Iced VoVo Tarts. Just how Granny used to make them!
