The late 60’s and early 70’s fashion was a birth of self expression, experimentation and breaking the rules. Disco dominated the charts as the revolution of free love and powerful proclamations of rebellion surged through society. No bras, no worries. People were safe to express themselves through their fashion. As declared by Vogue, “There are no rules of the fashion game now. You’re playing it and you make up the game as you go.” And boy did the people do well.

What came from this era was some of the most iconic and timeless styles in fashion history and the nostalgia of this time lives on in our fashion today, especially here in Australia. Our love for free flowing flares, floral drenched maxi dresses and vibrant jumpsuits is a part of our identity as sea and sun loving goddesses.

These styles have been the inspiration for our favourite fashion designer, encapsulating the fun and foxy 70’s in the most authentic and inventive way. As a Gold Coast local, talented fashion designer, entrepreneur and ex roller skating champion; Tara Fletcher is putting her footprint on the bohemian fashion scene.

Tucked away in the heart of Miami Marketta houses the studio and boutique of our beloved Tara and her brand Love St. Boasting a huge range of beautiful flowing maxis, captivating minis and groovy jumpsuits made of heavenly soft rayon printed with hand designed vibrant prints, Love St is boho heaven.

Pairing flattering fits with eclectic and radiant colours Tara has always designed her pieces based on her own style and the things she wanted to wear. Her designs are bold and energetic with a focus on being flattering on all different body shapes.

Starting out designing costumes for her performances as a professional dancer to then go on sewing singlets and flares from vintage fabrics to sell at the markets with her sister, Tara decided to begin her business creating Love St Label. She has been building her brand for the last 8 years within the Music and Arts precinct Miami Marketta.

With herself as her muse she creates a new line every season, not only designing the prints for the fabric but also overseeing the whole production with her team over in Bali who screen print the fabric and sew the clothes as a family business.

Tara loves experimenting with different fabrics like corduroy, leather and silk producing limited edition seasonal exclusives aswell as fun and stylish ‘band T’ style T-shirts. She also stocks quirky accessories such as Happy To Sit On Your Face Sunglasses that pair perfectly with the groovy aesthetics. Not just for the gals, Love St has a range of fun aloha shirts for men and boys.

Love St is an incredible locally owned and operated label that is pushing the boundaries of self expression and inspiring artistic femininity through beautifully well tailored pieces perfect for any bohemian beauty or disco queen. You can visit the boutique Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 5pm as well as check them out on Instagram @love_st_label or www.lovest.com.au
