If you are a Gold Coast based emerging to mid-career creative or arts worker looking to deepen your understanding of working in a professional context learning from senior mentors we want to hear from you! You can do this through the City of Gold Coast’s paid Professional Placement Program. Placements last for up to 30 days and successful applicants will be paid a stipend to support their participation in the Program. You can apply for more than one Placement however if successful, you will only be offered one.

THE ROLE
Surface festival - creative assistant
A key extension of Miami Marketta is the independently produced street art festival - Surface Festival, which extends visual arts across the streets of Miami over a 2- week period every July. Surface Festival was founded by the creative team of Miami Marketta in 2020 and will be returning for its 3rd year in July 2023. Surface Festival is a celebration of art and creatives on the Gold Coast, delivering a vibrant program of events that re-imagine the surfaces of Miami. The festival features large-scale new murals, gallery nights, outdoor exhibitions, and laneway live music events. Audiences are invited to walk, ride, roll and stroll through the streets and witness the magic of visual art unfold.
Under the mentorship of the Surface Festival Creative Director and Miami Marketta’s Marketing Manager, the Creative Assistant will assist with all tasks related to the programming, design and delivery of a multifaceted arts festival. Key duties: Assist the Surface Festival Creative Director and Marketing Manager in all aspects of event creation, marketing and delivery including:
Initial stages planning and event scoping working across the event.
Event administration task including data entry, invoicing, worksheets and run sheets.
Artist communication and management.
Resident / community communication and management.
Liaising with external art suppliers, machinery, printing etc.
Marketing tasks such as copywriting, EDM builds, website support, form builds, online store builds, assisting with social media posting and online community management.
Working with festival content team and Marketing Manager to capture the right “vibe” for key event items and communications.
On the ground festival support and customer service during events.
